About Gerry McGovern
Gerry is founder and CEO of Customer Carewords. He is widely regarded as a leading authority on increasing web satisfaction by managing customer tasks. He has spoken, written and consulted extensively on Web content management issues since 1994.
Gerry pioneered Customer Carewords, a powerful technique for optimizing websites. This approach is built on the foundation of knowing the exact words your customers care most about, and using those words to deliver more value to your customers.
Gerry has given workshops and seminars on Web management in over 35 countries and has provided consultancy services to some of the world's most prestigious organizations including universities, governments and private industries. "We don't seek to do a good job for our clients," he claims on his website. "We seek to do an exceptional one."
Gerry was named one of the most influential figures in the UK and Ireland, as part of "An Internet Decade," a 2004 event recognizing the contribution of roughly 100 individuals in the field of e-commerce. In 2000, he received the Web Ireland Internet Industry Person of the Year award. Gerry is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, and lives in Dublin, Ireland.
In June 2010, Gerry published his newest book "The Stranger's Long Neck". The book describes methods to help web managers deliver what customers really want. It is packed with practical information and essential advice on web site management to maximize your performance online, including case studies from work with Microsoft, Tetra Pak and the UK National Health Service.
Gerry writes "New Thinking", a weekly email newsletter on web content management, information architecture and writing for the Web. It has been published since 1996 and has over 14,000 subscribers.
Gerry's book, "Killer Web Content", also continues to earn high praises:
