About Gerry McGovern
Gerry is one of the leading authorities on managing Web content as a business asset. He has spoken, written and consulted extensively on Web content management issues since 1994.
Gerry has pioneered a powerful technique for optimizing websites, called Customer Carewords. This approach is built on the foundation of knowing the exact words your customers care most about, and using those words to deliver more value to your customers.
Gerry has spoken about the Web in over 35 countries and has provided consultancy services to some of the world's most prestigious organizations including banks, universities, governments and private industries. "We don't seek to do a good job for our clients," he claims on his website. "We seek to do an exceptional one."
Gerry writes "New Thinking", a popular and widely-read weekly email newsletter covering the role of content on the Web. His books, including "Content Critical" and "The Web Content Style Guide" are recommended reading at several universities in North America and abroad.
In 2006, Gerry published "Killer Web Content," which has been praised by Web and business experts alike:
“Gerry McGovern’s Killer Web Content is essential reading for those eager for best practices in developing and delivering content on the Web.”
Suzanne Sowinska, Manager, Content Publishing Excellence, Microsoft Corporation
"I'm planning to buy several additional copies, because I know I'm going to be lending this book to everyone I know who has a web site. I suggest you do the same."
Jared M. Spool, Co-Author, Web Site Usability: A Designer's Guide
"Genius! Gerry McGovern gets it! If you read ONE book on managing a Web site, this is it."
Bev Godwin, Director, FirstGov.gov: The U.S. Government's Official Web Portal
Gerry was named one of the most influential figures in the UK and Ireland, as part of "An Internet Decade," a 2004 event recognising the contribution of roughly 100 individuals in the field of e-commerce. In 2000, he received the Web Ireland Internet Industry Person of the Year award.
